SWIMMING
Swimming is not only a useful skill but a fantastic asset for enhancing your surfing experience, especially as you progress to deeper waters (level 1 surfing). While having fun in waist-deep water is part of the journey, paddling out becomes an exciting phase where swimmers gain an advantage.
The great news is that you can become a proficient swimmer relatively quickly. In the month leading up to your Surf and Therapy trip in Essaouira, Sidi Kaouki, and Imsouane, Morocco, consider hitting your local pool a couple of times a week for maximum benefits.
By dedicating a few sessions to swimming in the lead-up to your surf trip, you’ll significantly boost your water confidence and overall enjoyment. Whether you’re a novice or looking to refine your skills, embracing the water is a valuable investment for an unforgettable surfing experience with Surf and Therapy in the stunning coastal settings of Morocco. Dive in and ride the waves!

SKATEBOARDING
FLEXIBILITY
Flexibility plays a pivotal role in surfing, especially for individuals over 40, where it often becomes a limiting factor. Establishing a dedicated stretching routine is essential to overcome these limitations and enhance overall surfing performance.
However, it’s crucial to strike a balance in flexibility, as being either under or overly flexible can lead to injuries. While the philosophy of yoga may not resonate with everyone, regular practice can significantly improve mobility. Despite some skepticism surrounding health claims and physiological mechanisms proposed in yoga, it remains a valuable tool for increasing flexibility.
For surfers looking to enhance their range of motion, incorporating seated rotational poses is beneficial for trunk flexibility, aiding in bringing feet underneath the body. Additionally, practicing “Down Dog” not only contributes to leg flexibility but also serves as an effective stretch for the Achilles, back of the knees, and hamstrings. By integrating flexibility training, particularly through elements of yoga, surfers can mitigate physical limitations, promote injury prevention, and optimize their performance on the waves.
